In Valle d’Aosta, within a natural basin surrounded by the majestic backdrop of the Mont Blanc chain, among larch trees and firs, among mountains and glaciers which make it incomparable, Courmayeur boasts a first rate tourist-receptive organization of an international standing.
This is the last Italian town before entering France through the Mont Blanc tunnel which leads to Chamonix.
Developed around the old Saints Pantaleone and Valentine church, Courmayeur, since the 19th century, is to be considered the capital of alpinism and of mountain touring, even if, back at that time, the thermal activity which used to be largely practiced through the cure of mineral waters resulted to be much more important.
Courmayeur is one the most important ski resorts in the world. It is also an ancient town, with a perfectly preserved old city centre which has a unique and magical atmosphere.
